I finally got around to installing with Windows7 beta last night, and was pleased to see the latest EPD installs. I then started up a customer application, and to my surprise, everything worked!
I only run 4 apps on Windows, IE (for Netflix), Python, Eclipse, and Google Chrome. Its great news that EPD seems to be okay, while Chrome is completely broken.
Thanks for the feedback on the previous post, I’m going to try Console on Win7 next time I boot into it.
I’m wondering what in chrome is broken on Win7 for you. I’ve not had any problems. I’m not a chrome dev or anything by the way, just wanting to avoid pitfalls.
Netflix works fine with Firefox. Then you can dump that crapload of a browser IE.
Google Chrome works fine in my installation of Windows 7…
Greg, does Netflix streaming work with Firefox? If so, I’m done with IE. Now only if it worked with Firefox on Linux…
Chrome, launched using the installed shortcut will not display any documents. Altering the shortcut makes it work somewhat, but not perfectly. Google is aware of the issue.
Can you explain how you managed to install it in windows 7?
Julio, do you mean EPD? I downloaded the latest installer here, then installed it as ‘single user’.
I used the EPD windows installer from code.enthought.com website. Everything seems to work fine, EXCEPT : I have lightning problems in Mayavi. Everything is “black”, so no light is present…
What about supporting win64 (AMD64)? Do you plan on supporting this in the future?
64bit Vista support is in the plans, though I don’t think 64bit XP is.
The EPD distribution has not worked on my Windows 7 (RTM Version) installation until I downloaded the msvcp71.dll and copied it to Windows/System32.
Windows 7 is much better than Windows Vista when it comes to performance. i like Windows 7 just like Windows XP
I’m pretty much impressed with the stability of Windows 7. It is better than windows Vista which hogs my memory and cpu.`-.
Yes, Chrome is still very broken under Win7 64-bit. Something to do with recall from history it seems, typical event log

I see plenty of people have this grief. Pity, makes Chrome useless, otherwise I like it.
