EPD 7.2 released

EPD 7.2I am pleased to announce the release of Enthought Python Distribution, EPD version 7.2, along with its “EPD Free” counterpart. The highlights of this release are: the addition of GDAL and updates to over 30 packages, including SciPy, matplotlib and IPython. The new IPython 0.12 includes the HTML notebook, which is why the Tornado web-server was also added to EPD.

My main reason for using Ubuntu was that the Enthought Python Distribution provides for one-click installation of 75+/- packages for numeric/scientific computing.

I see from the package list that EPDFree has tornado but not pyzmq. This means that EPDFree cannot run IPython’s HTML notebook, IPython.parallel, the two-process console, or the QtConsole (which would also obviously depend on PySide).
